The antelope is said to be referred to in the bible as a wild bull or roebuck.The bible describe's clean meat as bird's and animal's that people are allowed to eat and unclean meat as bird's and animal's that people are not allowed eat. Of the clean animals that people were allowed to eat their were two requirements. They must have a parted hoof and must chew their own cud.
There are two places in the bible which mention the antelope Deuteronomy and Isaigh.
Deuteronomy
The approximate time of this writing in the King James Version of the Holy Bible was 1410 B.C.
Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing Deut. 14:3
These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat. Deut. 14:4
The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois. Deut. 14:5
And every beast that parteth the hoof and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat. Deut. 14:6
Isaigh
The approximate time of this writing was 690 B.C.
Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net ; they are full of the fury of the Lord, the rebuke of thy God,Isaiah 51:20
