What to feed Your Puppy
Everything you need to know about feeding puppies, includes, how, when, and what to feed and what not to feed puppies plus find out how to tell if your puppy is eating too much or not enough. See below.
How to feed your puppy:
Puppies should nurse (breast feed from the mother) for 6-8 weeks in order to get the right amount of vitamins and nutrients needed for their fast developing bodies. When puppies start growing teeth the mother will usually start weening them. After your puppies are weened they will need to eat a complete and balanced puppy food (see below).
When to feed your puppy:
Puppies need a steady supply of food and fresh water so that they can develop strong bones, teeth, and shiny coats.
What not to feed your puppy:
Do not feed your puppy table scraps. Once they start eating table scraps they won't want to eat their puppy food and as a result will not get the proper vitamins and minerals needed to stay healthy. Some table scraps may even harm your puppy in the long run.
How to tell if your puppy is eating too much
As a general rule, once your puppy is finished nursing and starts eating puppy food you will notice that they will eat only as much as they need to maintain energy levels and nourish their fast growing bodies. If by the age of two or three weeks if your puppy is eating a lot of food and not gaining weight you may need to de-worm your puppies.
