How to Induce vomiting in your dog for accidental poisoning
If your dog is showing signs that it has been poisoned you may need to induce vomiting. The video below shows the correct way to do it. However, there are certain poisons and breeds of dogs and chemicals that you should never induce vomiting with after ingestion. Do not induce vomiting in dogs with smooshed faces such as English bulldogs, Pekingese, Shih-Tzus, Pugs, etc. 3% Hydrogen Peroxide can be used to induce vomiting in dogs (see video below).
Never stick your finger down your dogs throat, don't use salt, mustard, or ipecac syrup as there are very bad side effects (1).
You should keep 3% Hydrogen Peroxide on hand in case you need to help your dog vomit up a poisonous substance.
Activated Charcoal Gel is often used to help absorb poisons swallowed by pets and livestock.
